Hej då!

After 11 days our sons second grandma (Turkish: babaanne, meaning: daddies mommy; similar to anneanne, meaning mommies mommy) has left and now it is again time for daddy to change diapers and make him burp after getting drunk (German: besoffen?) with milk while being at home. Before I had the luxury to just play the delivery guy who transported the baby between the input station, i.e. mommy, and the output/maintenance and waste disposal station, i.e. grandma. As a smartish dad I know how to play the grandmas off against each other: In three weeks the East-German side is coming to exert their influence on our baby.

I got some input on the practical joke and have to make something clear. It is rather a sign of love between siblings than meanness to do things we do to each other. Today at Arlanda I bought him something sweet and he was happy and I think I made him forget that particular day as well as the day where I kept him 10 minutes under me screaming for help after claiming to be able to defeat me in wrestling. I mean what else could I have done to someone who watches stupid clips on Youtube again and again and doesn’t stop laughing. Or could you watch the following German clip several times and find it funny?

PS: For those who do not understand German. It is about a Turkish building cleaning worker in a gene laboratory who accidentally gets in contact with German genes.

    Salaam Kathrin,
